It all began with a few fervent musicians who occasionally performed in an orchestra. Any place, time or occasion was good for them to play their music. Their name? The Streetband Funny Boys. Their repertoire? Any music which people enjoyed listening to and which was somewhat playable. This way, the Funny Boys became the permanent ensemble of, for instance, the women's soccer team De Maradonna's (DVK Egem) and the volleyball teams (women and men) IBIS Kortrijk.
In 1989 we decided to continue as a traditional woodwind ensemble. Some musicians had already gained the experience of a Tyrolean or Oberbayern band, playing for other ensembles. The group soon became a real brass band of about 22 musicians. One musician recruited the other, and gradually the company grew into a comprehensive, high-quality ensemble, specialized in the traditional folk music from Germany, Austria or the Czech Republic, to name but a few. The Funny Boys became Die Original Dorfmusikanten, a name chosen by analogy to their great example, Ernst Mosch und Die Original Egerländermusikanten.
"Die Original Dorfmusikanten" soon became well-known in the world of woodwind musicians and the favourite performers at any occasions. In a few years' time they build an admirable reputation at home and abroad. Stimmungskappelle Die original Dorfmusikanten is the perfect choice for each occasion, an aperitif or coffee concert, an atmospheric or audio performance, an academic session or a real Oberbayern party.
A performance by Die Original Dorfmusikanten is always enjoyable, a musical experience that is a feast for the eye and the ear. Highly recommended. Spread the word, spread the word...
